Basement waterproofing and crawl space encapsulation in Crestwood, KY

Big lots, 1990s and 2000s subdivisions with walkout basements, and Currys Fork and the upper Floyds Fork draining the rolling ground around town. Crestwood water problems start with the slope of the lot.

Homes in Crestwood

Walkout basements on rolling lots, and roof water with a long way to go

Crestwood along Highway 22 and Highway 146 is mostly newer neighborhoods on large lots, with Pewee Valley's older Victorian homes next door. The ground rolls toward Floyds Fork and its branches, which is why so many Crestwood houses have walkout or daylight basements: one wall buried in the hill, the opposite wall at grade. That buried wall takes everything the yard sends downhill.

The soil here is heavy clay, like most of the ground around Louisville. Clay drains slowly, so it holds water against a foundation for days after a storm. In a Crestwood walkout basement the problem to look for is water at the base of the buried wall after a hard rain, a sump running constantly in spring, or a finished basement with a damp corner nobody can explain. Intercept French drains uphill, interior drainage along the affected wall, buried downspout extensions and a properly sized sump with a battery backup are the usual system.

These guys worked hard to do a great job and they cleaned and hauled away all the debris and trash. My basement is definitely beautiful. Thank you Watertight Waterproofing.

Had a great experience with Watertight Waterproofing. Zach was very professional and easy to work with from start to finish. He sent a crew of two guys out to install a new sump pump in my house, and they did an excellent job. They worked efficiently…

Questions

What Crestwood homeowners ask

Still have a question? Call the office, Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Why does only one wall of my Crestwood basement get wet?

That is the wall holding back the hill. Surface water and groundwater push against it after every rain. An intercept drain uphill and interior drainage along that wall stop it.

Our basement is finished. How much do you have to tear out?

Only the perimeter needed for the drain, usually a strip of drywall along the wet wall. We protect the rest and put back what we remove wherever possible.

Do you do the yard drainage too, or just the basement?

Both, as one system. Buried downspouts and a French drain are often the difference between a basement that stays dry and one that does not.
