Sump pumps
Sump pump installation and replacement in Louisville, KY
Sealed basins, quality pumps, check valves and discharge lines that actually take the water away from the house. Battery backup for the storms that knock the power out. Installed by the crew that installs the drainage feeding it.

Signs you need it
When the pump is the weak point
A pump that runs constantly, or never
Both mean trouble. A stuck float, a failing motor or an undersized pump gets found out in the first big storm.
An open pit with a loose lid
Open sumps let humidity and radon into the basement and let debris into the pump.
Discharge dumping next to the foundation
Water pumped out three feet from the wall comes straight back in.
No backup
Louisville storms take the power out exactly when the pump is needed most.

What we do
A pump is the last line of defense. We build the whole line.
A sump pump only moves the water that reaches it, so we install it as part of a drainage system, not instead of one. The basin is set at the low point, perforated so groundwater enters, sealed with a gasketed lid. The pump is sized to the flow, on a solid float switch, with a check valve so the line does not drain back. The discharge runs outside to a point well away from the foundation, often into a buried line with a pop-up emitter. A battery backup pump sits alongside for outages.
If your existing pump is fine and the problem is the drainage around it, we will say so. If the pump is the problem, we replace it with a pump sized for the job. A pump that never stops has its own causes, covered in why a sump pump keeps running.
- Sealed basin and lid, quality primary pump, check valve
- Battery backup systems for power cuts
- Discharge routed away from the house, buried where possible
- Installed with, or into, a proper drainage system

Why Watertight
Installed by waterproofers, not sold as a gadget
We look at the drainage that feeds a sump, not just the pump sitting in it. A new pump is sized to the water it has to move, the discharge is run away from the house, and the pump carries its own manufacturer warranty.
- Sized to the water, not to the shelf
- Backup options explained plainly
- Discharge routed away from the house

3 months agoZach’s crew of “good old country boys,” as he described them, waterproofed our basement December 1st and 3rd because we had a big-for-Kentucky snow, and the guys couldn’t make it to Shelbyville on the 2nd. From the website, we could tell they mainly…

Questions
Sump pump installation and replacement: what people ask
Still have a question? Call the office, Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
How much does a sump pump cost installed?
It depends on the basin, the pump, the discharge run and whether you add a battery backup; new drainage to feed it is priced as part of a basement or crawl space system. Every job is priced in writing after a free inspection, and the cost guide has typical Louisville ranges and a calculator for planning.
How long does a sump pump last?
Seven to ten years for a quality pump that is not running constantly. A pump that runs all the time because the drainage is wrong wears out much sooner.
Do I need a battery backup?
If a flooded basement would cost you more than the backup, yes. Louisville storms and power outages arrive together.
Why is my sump pump running all the time?
High water table, a discharge line that drains back into the pit, or a float stuck on. We diagnose it at the inspection; sometimes the fix is small.
