Dehumidifiers
Crawl space dehumidifier installation in Louisville, KY
Commercial-grade dehumidifiers sized to the space, installed properly and plumbed to drain, so the air under your house stays below the line where mold grows. Usually the last step of an encapsulation and sometimes the first thing a house needs.

Signs you need it
When the air is the problem
Humidity above 60 percent under the house
Louisville summers push crawl space humidity into the 70s and 80s. Mold starts at 60.
A sealed space that still feels damp
Sealing stops new moisture. It does not remove what is already there or what migrates through concrete.
A portable unit that runs constantly and never catches up
Household dehumidifiers are not built for a crawl space and do not last in one.
Cupping floors and sticky doors in summer
Wood upstairs is absorbing moisture from the air below.

What we do
The right unit, sized right, drained right
We install commercial crawl space dehumidifiers built for low, dirty, cool spaces: units that pull far more water per day than a household machine, run on a humidistat, and drain by gravity or condensate pump so nobody has to empty a bucket. Sizing matters: too small and it runs forever without reaching the set point; too big and it short-cycles. We size to the cubic footage and the moisture load, mount or set the unit for airflow and service access, and run the drain properly.
In a sealed crawl space a dehumidifier is the control system (the humidity guide has the numbers it holds). In an unsealed one it is a losing battle, which is why we usually pair it with a vapor barrier or a full encapsulation.
- Commercial units rated for crawl spaces, not portable household machines
- Sized to the space and the moisture load
- Gravity drain or condensate pump, no buckets
- Humidistat control, filter access, manufacturer warranty registered

Why Watertight
Part of the moisture system, not a gadget
If your space needs draining or sealing first, we will say so, because a dehumidifier in a wet, vented crawl space is money down the drain.
- Honest about when a dehumidifier alone will not work
- Units we service and stand behind
- Installed as part of the whole moisture system, with its manufacturer warranty

Questions
Crawl space dehumidifier installation: what people ask
Still have a question? Call the office, Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
How much does a crawl space dehumidifier cost installed?
It depends on the unit the space needs and where the drain can run, and it is often included in an encapsulation price. Every job is priced in writing after a free inspection, and the cost guide has typical Louisville ranges and a calculator for planning.
Can I use a regular dehumidifier from the hardware store?
You can, briefly. They are not rated for crawl space conditions, they need emptying, and they tend to wear out early. A crawl space unit costs more and is built for the job.
Does it need a sealed crawl space to work?
It works far better in one. In a vented space it fights an endless supply of outdoor air. We usually recommend sealing first.
How much does it cost to run?
A properly sized unit in a sealed space cycles on and off rather than running constantly. Most homeowners see a modest change on the electric bill and a bigger change in comfort and cooling costs upstairs.
