Basement waterproofing and crawl space services in Okolona, KY

Flat ground, a high water table and the Northern and Southern Ditches doing the draining. Okolona homes sit low, and keeping them dry is about moving water that has nowhere else to go.

Homes in Okolona

Flat clay, drainage ditches and basements below the water table

Okolona is the flat south end of the county along Preston Highway and Outer Loop, drained by the Northern Ditch and Southern Ditch toward Pond Creek. The 1950s to 1970s ranches and split-levels here sit on ground that barely slopes, and the water table sits close to the basement floors for much of the year.

Like the rest of Jefferson County, this part of town is built on clay over limestone. After a storm the clay stays wet against the foundation for days, and groundwater finds its own way through the rock underneath. Okolona basements take on water through the floor joint under pressure and through block walls, and the crawl spaces under the ranches stay damp and moldy without help. Interior perimeter drains with sealed, backed-up sumps are the basement fix. Crawl space drainage, encapsulation and dehumidifiers handle the rest. Buried downspout lines matter a lot on lots this flat.

These guys were great to work with. Great customer service, great communication, friendly, polite, and great pricing. I'm very pleased with the work they did on my basement. If I ever need work done in the future, these are the guys I'm calling.

Zach’s crew of “good old country boys,” as he described them, waterproofed our basement December 1st and 3rd because we had a big-for-Kentucky snow, and the guys couldn’t make it to Shelbyville on the 2nd. From the website, we could tell they mainly…

Questions

What Okolona homeowners ask

Still have a question? Call the office, Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

My lot is completely flat. Where can the water even go?

Into a drainage system and a sump that lifts it to a discharge line, and out to a pop-up emitter or a dry well placed well away from the house. Flat lots need pumps; gravity is not on your side.

Is a battery backup worth it in Okolona?

Yes. High water table plus power outage equals a flooded basement. A backup pump is cheap insurance here.

Do you handle the crawl space and the basement in one job?

Yes, and it is usually the right way to do it, since the water is the same water.
