Before
Where it started
Old plastic sheeting, torn and bunched across bare dirt, under joists with insulation between them. The block wall has vent openings letting outside air in. A thin sheet in this condition is not a vapor barrier; it is debris.
After
How it was left
The same joists and the same wall, with a continuous white liner laid across the floor and turned up at the wall. The dirt is covered, the seams are overlapped and the space is bright.

The work
How a job like this goes
The old plastic and any ruined insulation come out first. The reinforced liner is cut to the space, overlapped and taped at every seam, sealed to the piers and run up the foundation wall. Where the vents are sealed and a dehumidifier is added, the vapor barrier becomes a full encapsulation.
- Old plastic and debris removed
- Reinforced liner, sealed seams, wrapped piers
- Run up the walls and fastened
- Upgradeable to a full encapsulation
