Before

Where it started

The block wall carries patches of old white paint and dark mineral staining, the marks water leaves as it moves through block. A technician is working along it with tools and cords across the floor, and wall cabinets hang above the work area.

After

How it was left

The same cabinets and the same pipe drop, now above a smooth white-lined wall and a sealed floor. Nothing above the liner had to move.

The work

How a job like this goes

Efflorescence means the wall is wet inside. The fix is not to scrub the wall but to relieve the pressure behind it: perimeter drainage at the footing, a liner that directs water into the drain, and a sealed sump to move it out. The liner goes on last, over a wall that is now allowed to be wet behind it.

  • Cause diagnosed before anything is sealed
  • Perimeter drain relieves the pressure
  • Liner over the wall, tied into the drain
  • Finishes above the liner left alone
